While Catholics celebrate the life of Pope John Paul II, members of a local Methodist church celebrate a new worship center after a fire ripped through their building over a year ago.
The fire happened just a few days before Christmas 2003. The First United Methodist Church of Munfordville was completely destroyed and now church members say they’re ready to rebuild.
Sunday afternoon, church members gathered for a groundbreaking. Some of the members we talked to say they are looking forward to the day when the church will be completed and they can worship in their own church again.
The new church is being built just down the street from Hart County High School.
