Lucas Goodrum's stepfather is found dead in a burned out car at an I-65 rest area outside Bowling Green .

Kentucky State Police are investigating the death of a Scottsville man found inside a burned out car.

KSP responded to a vehicle fire reported at this rest stop near the 29-mile-marker on the southbound side of the interstate shortly after 11 p.m. on Jan. 25.

The man is identified as William Bruce Dugas.

Dugas was found inside his Seven Series BMW at the rest area.

We're unable to show the car because it might be of evidentiary value to the ongoing case.

Dugas was taken to the Louisville medical examiner's office where an autopsy was performed Jan. 26.

"The cause of death is not being released at the time. We're awaiting toxicology reports from the Medical Examiner's office and expect those in about two weeks. That will probably give us more information to the cause of death at this time," said Tpr. Todd Holder.

You may remember Dugas as the grandson of Dollar General founder Cal Turner, or as the step-father to Lucas Goodrum.

Goodrum was found not guilty of raping, beating and setting Western Kentucky University student Katie Autry on fire in 2003.
