President of the Housing Corporation for Western’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, Kevin Brooks, says the SAE’s will rebuild in Western’s new Greek Village.
“Even before the fire we had committed to go to the Greek Village.”
The Greek Village is going to be located on 14th and 15th Avenue adjacent to Center Street. The university has already purchased the land for Greek organizations and that land will be given to fraternities and sororities at no cost, but Greeks will foot the bill for the construction of a new home and will be responsible for the up keep and maintenance of its houses.
Brooks says it will cost around $1 million to build a new fraternity house.
Fraternity members still continue to come out every day to survey the damage of what’s left of the SAE house after a Sunday morning blaze destroyed everything in its path, but are looking forward to making a new start in the Greek Village.
