The woman infamously attacked during a 1989 jog through New York's Central Park visited the Kentucky Capitol today for a crime victims' remembrance ceremony.
Trisha Meili, known as the "Central Park Jogger," described the life-changing injuries she suffered during the brutal attack nearly 16 years ago in which she was severely beaten, raped and bound.
Meili says she doesn't recall the attack or the weeks after it, but she considers herself a survivor rather than a victim.
Today's event at the state Capitol marked Kentucky's 14th Annual Crime Victims' Rights Day.
Attorney General Greg Stumbo says his office has worked to preserve victims' rights, and will continue such efforts.
