Since the first Earth Day 35 years ago, environmentalists say there have been huge victories to keeping the earth clean, and residents of Bowling Green and Warren County are now following suit.

Southern Recycling reports Bowling Green and Warren County have 75 percent participation in the recycling program, compared to a national average of 55 to 60 percent.

Southern Recycling says since the curbside program began, it's helped keep around 15 million pounds of materials away from landfills.
