Warren Circuit Judge Tom Lewis has certified the cases against Highmark Investments qualify as a class action lawsuit. The plaintiffs in the case claim they were led to believe they were investing in one-year CD's, but suffered severe economic penalties when they tried to withdraw their money after one year.

The owner of Highmark Investments, Brian Springer, is also facing criminal charges in state and federal court for theft by deception, fraud, and money laundering.
