WKU's Wind Ensemble has been invited by the Russia Ministry of Culture to perform in Moscow next month for the 60th Victory Day Anniversary.
More than 60 heads of state from around the world, including President Bush, are expected to attend the concert where Western will be the only American musical ensemble represented.
"This is a tremendous honor that we are representing not only Western Kentucky University, but Kentucky and the entire United States."
Director, Dr. John Carmichael, says the students are excited about the trip and are spending these last few days practicing and brushing up on Russia's culture.
The 65-member group begins the tour May 9, performing at many of Moscow's finest concert venues.
