Hasan Akbar will face a death sentence for the 2003 murders of two officers in a grenade attack at an army camp in Kuwait.

Akbar was a member of the 101st Airborne Division, based at Fort Campbell.

The 15 person jury deliberated seven hours after hearing a statement from the 34-year-old Akbar, who said he was sorry.

The same jury took just two and a half hours to convict him of two counts of premeditated murder and three counts of attempted premeditated murder.

Akbar gave no visible sign of outward emotion when the sentence was read.
