It’s been more than four years in the making but now a dream becomes reality for many in Simpson County.
The county received a federal grant worth almost a half million dollars to help build a Boys and Girls Club in Franklin.
“We are now on our way.”
Board President Jay Atkerson says the county received a $425,000 Community Development Block Grant to help build the $1.6 million facility.
The Boys and Girls Club is a program for kids ranging from six years old to 17. The club provides a place were kids can come and learn and offers a number of programs that promote leadership. Currently, there are 13 Boys and Girls Club in Kentucky.
If you would like to donate money to the Boys and Girls Club there will be a fundraiser called Kids Festival on Saturday May 28 at the strip mall by Wal-Mart.
So far, $350,000 has been raised for the new club.
