A Warren County child is still waiting for a liver transplant; doctors say he needs to survive.
Four-year old Austin Pellett has a genetic disease that prevents his blood from breaking down impurities in the air; it’s called Alpha One AntiTrypsin Defiencey. Austin was recently placed on the donor list at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and the family received a pager so they’ll be notified when a liver becomes available.
“They said he would have to have it no later than the fall that there’s no way he’ll be able to make it pass that.” Austin’s Mom, Brandie Pellett said.
Austin’s not alone, his brother Allen also suffers from the same disease making it even tougher for the family.
“I don’t know how you can explain that, it’s so hard to watch your son’s life just dwindle away.”
Around a hundred people gathered Saturday night for a wrestling benefit to help raise money for Austin.
Austin’s mom, Brandie Pellett says the liver transplant alone will cost over $150,000, so every penny raised will help.
The wrestling match raised almost a thousand dollars for Austin Pellett’s family. If you’d like to help out you can donate money to the Austin Pellett fund at any BB&T bank in Bowling Green.
