Because of steering problems, Toyota is recalling its Georgetown-made Avalon sedan.

A Toyota spokeswoman says the steering column on some early production models was not properly welded.

If the welds break, drivers could lose control of the cars.

So far, no accidents have been attributed to the problem.

Toyota is sending notices to nearly 4900 customers.

Drivers should take their vehicles to Toyota dealers for inspection and, potentially, replacement of the steering column.
