Juvenile Released

A 14-year-old former Heath Middle School student, charged with threatening to take guns to school, is released from the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center.

His release followed a continuance of a hearing to determine his guilt or innocence.

The hearing has been moved to June 22.

The teen had been in the detention center since being charged with terroristic threatening April 14 after telling as many as a dozen students he planned to take guns to school and shoot people.

McCracken County Chief Deputy Sheriff Terry Long has asked the Kentucky cabinet for Health and Family Services to launch a child neglect investigation against the youth's mother.

Long says trash was piled inside the house and it reeked of spoiled food.

A church group has been cleaning the house.

The boy's father is in jail on an attempted murder charge.
