Bowling Breen's City Commission wrapped up its 3rd full day of budget hearings Thursday, under its new zero-based budget approach.

Every department or agency that wants city funding for next year must explain why they deserve the money, and that leaves the city commission with long hours and some tough choices.

"I do at this point think there are some things I'd like to see, and there are some things that I have speculations about," said Commissioner Brian "Slim" Nash.

"It is something good to start and look at several years back and what you're doing differently, things you need to change not only from a budget standpoint but from an operations standpoint. But hopefully it won't be this difficult next year," said Lori Hare, Director of the Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society.

The City Commission will wrap up its budget sessions tomorrow afternoon, then come back for an all-day marathon next Saturday to make the final decisions on who will get city money and how much they receive.
