The arrest of five Hopkins County schoolboys on sex charges is sparking a debate about how police and prosecutors handled the case.
The boys, ranging in age from six to eight, were accused of committing sexually lewd behavior in bathrooms at Earlington Elementary School and Hanson Elementary School earlier this year.
Police and prosecutors say they needed to charge the boys to determine whether adults had abused one or more of them, triggering their behavior at school.
No adults have been charged.
