Bowling Green Mayor Elaine Walker: "The questions were about decisions, for the most part, off duty. And when that effects the way you personally versus professionally then that has to be taken into account."

Mayor Walker is referring to Bowling Green Police Officer Brad Fulks. Fulks was found guilty of four charges at the 14 hour long hearing.

Those charges are:

  1. Permitting under age individuals to consume alcohol while in his apartment.
  2. Using department owned equipment, as relates to a portable breathalyzer test device being administered to others at his apartment.
  3. Disobeying a direct order given by supervisors.
  4. And Harassing behavior and other acts bordering on stalking.

Mayor Walker says: "After they actually agreed on charges, then we had the penalty phase. Then we had discussion about it from both sides what they felt the penalty should be."

All four of the commissioners voted unanimously to terminate Fulks from the police department.

Commissioner Brian straw says: "It's very hard. It's an emotionally draining process anytime that anybody's job is on the line."

But ultimately Strow and the other commissioners decided that Fulks behavior while off-duty was not appropriate.

Walker says: "If you want to work for a police department that is really top notch then you have to make sure that your personal standards are high as well as your professional standards."

Brad Fulks has had disciplinary action taken against him in the past. In May of last year he became intoxicated to the point where he was laying in his driveway and needed help getting up. At the time he was ordered not to contact any witnesses involved with the investigation, but he contacted one of the witnesses.

WBKO tried to contact Fulk's attorney, Alan Simpson, but our calls were not returned.
