They're nocturnal insects that feed off human hosts.

You know them as bedbugs.

Some residents of Bowling Green Towers say they've had an infestation of bedbugs for more than a month.

Patrick Fannin's been a Bowling Green Towers resident for three years, but lately, he's been losing sleep over bed bugs.

"Some of the residents have had to get rid of their furniture. Some of us can't afford new furniture," says Fannin.

"The bed bugs started in my apartment and was not dealt with right away and the bed bugs started migrating to other apartments on that side," explains Bowling Green Towers Residents' Association Vice President John Baize.

"From what I know, it's on five different floors now," adds Bowling Green Towers Residents' Association President Debbie Bell. "I believe it started on the A tower and it spread four floors on that tower and then spread to B tower on one of the floors."

"The residents here sometimes think reporting concerns to the management isn't much use," says Baize.

Residents also don't view bed bugs as the only problem.

"They have found rats, snakes, and bats on different occasions in the Towers," says Baize.

"There definitely need to be better living arrangements for the residents here," says Bell.

Officials at Bowling Green Towers have refused to comment, but residents say they're bringing their problems to the attention of the Kentucky Housing Corporation during today's scheduled inspection.

"Today, the Kentucky Housing Corporation is coming to the Towers to review and the Resident's Association wants to introduce ourselves to them," says Baize.

"I'm hoping we have some of these issues addressed, and we get things movin' in the right direction to get these problems taken care of," adds Fannin.

"Whatever it is they need to do, I wish they'd get on it and get it done quickly," Bell concludes.

Residents say an exterminator has made a stop at Bowling Green Towers, but traditional methods of killing insects were unsuccessful in stopping the infestation.
