Brigadier General Dan Cherry is a Bowling Green native. He shot down a Mig-21 in 1972, and the actual F4-D Phantom he flew to do it, is coming to Bowling Green. General Cherry and a group of aviation enthusiasts are establishing Aviation Heritage Park to display the plane at the Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport.
Today the Fiscal Court unanimously passed a resolution joining the city of Bowling Green in endorsing and authorizing Aviation Heritage Park. The park is to be paid for by private donations.
