After serving two years, the superintendent of Russellville Independent Schools submits a letter of resignation to the board Tuesday night.
Stephens has led the school system for the past two years. He came to the district from Georgia.
The letter gave no reason for the resignation, which will take effect June 30.
School Board Chairman James Milam says the next step will be to look for an interim superintendent.
