4,220 people

That's how many individuals were arrested nationwide on drug-related charges during Operations Byrne Blitz.

The drug roundup was a coordinated effort led by the National Alliance of State Drug Enforcement Agencies.

It was to focus on drug related crimes, and to stress the importance of the federally funded Byrne Justice Assistance Grant Program.

Through the roundup, over 20-thousand pounds of marijuana was seized, 17-hundred pounds of cocaine, 666 firearms and over $13-million.

In addition, 228 children were determined to be endangered in some cases and were referred to the appropriate child protection agency.

Interesting, How long did they know they were drug dealers before they had the Roundup? Seems to me they wouldn't have that many people to bust at one time.
