A Horse Cave gentlemen's club is forced to close its doors following a raid. The Hart County sheriff tells us why. The new Show Girls Gentlemen's Club opened on Memorial Day. It's located in the Horse Cave Mall. However, it's been closed since law enforcement invaded it last Thursday.

Sheriff Jeff Staples tells WBKO there were several complaints about the club.

"After investigating, myself, the county attorney, and the county judge executive found that they did not have an entertainment license. At that time, myself and the sheriff deputies went asked for their license and they could not provide it. The manager was arrested and four girls were arrested."

All of them were released later that night.

Reaction to Show Girls Gentlemen's Club

Some community members want to see a gentlemen's club in the Horse Cave Mall closed. The mall manager says the club featuring fully nude dancers is a place for travelers to stop in and relax. Some Horse Cave residents say it's not the kind of attraction they want for their community.

Eric Martin says: "This is a prime location. There is no way we could hope for a better location, within a 1/10 of a mile of the exit. It's centrally located between Bowling Green and Elizabethtown."

But some Horse Cave residents say they don't want it in their community.

Wayne Hatcher says: "I think we need to be known for something better than that."

Bill Bybee says: "Personally I'd like to see it close."

Wayne Hatcher is the minister at Horse Cave Church of Christ. He says there's no need for a strip club in Hart County.

Hatcher says: "We're after the hearts and minds of people and this church is a light in this community and we send the gospel out. And we believe as proverbs 23:7 says, "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he."

Eric Martin is the spokesperson for Showgirls Gentlemen's Club in Hart County. He says they are merely trying to cater to traveling businessmen.

Martin says: "All the best aspects of the Las Vegas style show clubs and we've combined them into one location."

Bill Bybee is another Horse Cave resident against Show Girls.

Bybee says: "Of course we are concerned as members of the Church of Christ simply because it's really degrading to women."

But Martin says the women at Show Girls don't mind. He also says they make about five hundred dollars on a good night.

Martin says: "Where else is a pretty young lady gonna go make $500 in six hours perfectly legal?"

Martin admits having a gentlemen's club in Horse Cave may seem out of place, but he says the mall is the perfect place for one.

Martin says: "This mall was a dinosaur. It was dying. The new owner came in and said let's revive this place. Let's get it back."

Hatcher wishes things at the Horse Cave Mall had never changed.

Hatcher says: "It's sad to see it now, as you pass down the interstate. Seeing adult signs and seeing gentlemen's club. And knowing at one time it was a very promising business."
