Bowling Green Estates Inspection

It was exactly one week ago, residents in the bottom half of Bowling Green Estates were forced to the streets after their apartment building was condemned. Today, officials went back to inspect the top half of the building.

While Property Manager, Ron Bradford, wouldn’t let us have a look inside we could hear the inspectors testing things like the smoke detecators.

After walking through each apartment, Bowling Green Code Enforcement Coordinator, Alex Colovos says the city decided not to condemn the top half of the building, but says they’re several violations that still need to be fixed.

The city condemned the bottom half of Bowling Green Estates last week after finding faulty plumbing, exposed wires and other conditions that made it unsafe to live.

While inspectors say the top half of the building isn’t as bad, they aren’t aware of what repairs could have been made this past week to get the building up to code.

Bowling Green Estate officials have 7 days to make some of the repairs and 30 days to complete the other minor violations. They were also fined $75.

The city will re-inspect in a week, if violations are not fixed a second citation will be issued and they will be fined double.

While residents say they know things aren’t perfect at the apartment complex, they’re thankful they don’t have to look for a new place to live.
