If you folks are truely wku fans you will support and stand behind any decision they feel is best. WKU is the best! I support the team no matter who the coach is.

I am surprised; I blogged here yesterday and nothing got printed. A blog is a blog and you would think a News Center would not be afraid of the public's comments? What happened to Freedom of Speech; I guess you can go ahead and think you are a voice for our community. I see how it is now! Bobby Knight is too good for WKU; go ahead and hire the next Rick Pitino clone that will you again on their way to the top. Pitino-Willard-Crean-Horn and who will you hire next? Kevin Willard, give Clem Haskins a call, no forget about him, he is fishing with Bob, but he won't hunt with him. Hire Bob and the "FANS" will come back. Hire anybody that has less name recognition and watch the empty seats pile up again.

I'd like to know why Gary and Wood waited three days to deny the rumors? They knew the rumors were escalating yet they sat back and watched it happened. Wood even added fuel to the fire in an interview saying it was "legit speculation." Gary was very quick to point fingers when things went bad instead of stepping to the plate and saying he had made a mistake. One thing he sure doesn't want to do right now is to alienate the media. I am not impressed with WKU's leadership.

If there was any truth to the Bobby knight thing and there was no consideration at all....it makes me very concerned who we have running WKU athletics

I don't mean to be a party dampener but we really do need to be realistic here. Bobby Knight has coached for Texas Tech's Red Raiders, and compared to our team those guys are pro. I mean I love our team but even if he was offered the job he wouldn't take it. Texas Tech is 25th in the nation, they have been to the NCAA Division 1 tournament 14 times and they are part of the Big 12 Conference.

I agree with Fanzo, but I would rather have Kevin's dad, Ralph Willard! I do believe he learned his lesson when he left for Pitt! He's a great coach! Why does Western hold it's self back? If we can't have Knight, go with another good coach. You don't always have to hire a coach the next day one leaves!

How do rumors get started? With a lil' bit of truth! People make mountains out of mole hills all the time! There is something there or South Central KY would'nt be going nuts over Bobby Knight! Who do you want Topper fans? Another Matt Kilcullen or a Bobby Knight? If they hire another loser i'm not coming to the games. I tired of training coaches for the bigger schools! Question? Does Western get paid to train coaches?

WBKO should do an online poll asking fans to vote on if WKU should contact Coach Knight. these results then should be presented to WKU.

Let's all email the administrators who would be the most involved in making this happen. Dr. Wood Selig and Dr. Gary Ransdell at wood.selig@wku.edu and gary.ransdell@wku.edu. We need to all express our desire to AT LEAST contact Coach Knight to see if he is interested or not. Then we can pursue our other less appealing options.

If we want this pursued, it will take inundating WKU's office with emails and phone calls. So let's try and make this happen!

hey let me tell you something bobby knight would put western on top of everyone do you president ransdell and selig not get the point. Western needs a well known name such as Bobby Knight to get Western on ESPN not only that the players that would come play for Western and all Bob Knight has ever done whereever he has been has created the best basketball program for the Indiana and for Texas. Look at the good things he has done and not the bad things ok for once when there is a chance to bring a big time name coach to the hill then take the chance I betcha he will make a sellout crowd every game. What are you afraid of? What are you waiting for? Bobby Knight may be the best thing ever happened on the hill of Western!!!!!

In regards to the Bobby Knight and WKU story, coach knight probably knows more about the game of basketball than any active coach at any university. It is unlikely that he would consider coming to WKU due to the fact that WKU wont match an offer from another university to retain a good coach. Therefore it would be a wasted effort and loss of valueable time on his or any top quality coaches part to consider such an endeavor.

Selig admitted "that discussions about Knight had taken place within the WKU administration - they simply never developed beyond that" and "I think Bobby Knight said publicly that he would consider taking another job at a school like Western Kentucky and we’ve been contacted by someone who said they could put us in contact with Bobby Knight,” Selig said. “That’s been the extent of it. We have not pursued anything." WKU has the "potential" chance to get Bobby Knight as the head coach, and don't even pursue it? That's sad...

Bob Knight would put Western back in the record books again. Bob would fill Diddle up like the old days once again. More ticket sales more corporation donations. Just might be what WKU needs now with funds being cut by the state. If you hire him; let him do the job the way he knows how. Bob Knight has been wearing "red" a long time.

The no-name candidates mentioned at the end of this article are all jokes. These guys would all use us as a stepping stone like Horn did...if they were successful. If we go that direction, we should consider Iona head coach, Kevin Willard (son of Ralph Willard). He has strong BG/WKU ties & lots of experience under Petino. At least there would be a chance he'd stay around a while. Personally, I think we should make a big splash. Why is Knight so far fetched? We'd sell out every game next year! The timing would be huge for us, with the football program moving to I-A & the downtown redevelopment project(minor league baseball,SkyPac, etc). The publicity would draw people to BG and could help WKU make the jump to a better conference. Put the full court press on Knight NOW! Treat the guy right, give him what he wants, and maybe he'll consider it. Even if he just stayed for a few years, NCAA's alltime winningest coach would be an enormous boost to WKU and this whole region. THINK ABOUT IT!
