The Bowling Green State Police post received a call of a non-injury crash southbound on I-65 near the 70-mile marker at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect vehicle had fled the scene after allegedly driving erratically and hitting a couple of cars.
Witnesses told KSP the driver had pulled into the rest stop near Munfordville in Hart County. When Trooper Joel Huff arrived at the rest stop, the suspect refused to comply with his commands. A fight ensued, with the suspect allegedly drawing a firearm. Trooper Huff then fired on the suspect, killing him.
The suspect has not yet been identified. His vehicle matches the description of one involved in a burglary in Nelson County earlier Tuesday.
