Simpson County schools are making adjustments after a boil water advisory is put into effect.

The state issued an advisory after a water main break Wednesday afternoon.

The line has been repaired but further testing is needed before the advisory is lifted.

Residents are being urged not to drink the water and to boil it at least two minutes before using it.

Simpson County School Superintendent Jim Flynn says school resumed as normal since restrooms were operational.

However, Flynn says school cafeterias have changed their menus to foods that don't require water for the preparation, and he says only disposable utensils are being used.

Flynn says parents as well as the entire community have pitched in to help by bringing bottled water and hand sanitizer to schools.

Customers of the Simpson County Water District are not affected, and there is no need for them to boil their water.
