Starting at 6:30 this morning, one hundred Americans were seeing with new-found clarity. The name of the program is "Changing 100 Lives in 100 Minutes." It's a nationwide effort where 100 people received cataract lens implants at 6:30 a.m. for free. Now, Jenny Stradtner of Franklin is feeling grateful to be one of the one hundred.

"This past seven or eight months, I started getting blurry vision really bad," says Jenny.

It's been a long while since Jenny has been able to enjoy the Franklin countryside around her home.

"It was getting so blurry, I couldn't drive at night because one headlight would look like a dozen," she explains.

Soon, Jenny's going to be seeing more clearly.

"I love seeing. I've got three grandbabies I need to see a lot, so, yes I need good vision," Jenny says.

Jenny had developed a cataract in her left eye, so she contacted Dr. John Downing for help.

"We were trying to find help for her and found out about a program that a company called Ionics has," Dr. Downing reflects.

"It was something special when he says, hey, I've got this lens and I want you to have it," says Jenny.

"They were giving away a hundred free to patients like Mrs. Stradner who could not afford them otherwise," adds Dr. Downing.

"He picked me, thank God, to have this done," Jenny says

The crystalens gives the patient both strong near and far sight. That's good news for Jenny, who's helping keep her husband of 43 years healthy.

"I have to drive. My husband stays sick a lot, so I have to drive," says Jenny.

"She was legally blind in the eye we did today," Dr. Downing recalls. "She was about twenty two hundred and she could see 20/20 or something close to it within the next week."

And now Jenny's just counting her blessings as she sees life with new clarity.

"I figured God blessed me again on that one," Jenny concludes.

In case you wondering, Jenny says the surgery was completely painless.
