The Future Farmers of America are judging dairy cattle, but not just any students are invited to judge.
"I was in a dairy production class, and we were competing against other students, and I was selected."
Blake Steele is one of the Metcalfe County FFA students chosen to participate.
"It's good to know that I got chosen in my overall class to come up here and represent Metcalfe County."
It's not as easy as it looks. There are many things the judges keep an eye on.
"We have to judge different cows and heifers, and we have to give reasons why we chose them over others."
Blake also entered the agriculture mechanics competition. He won a blue ribbon for an Adirondack bench.
"That's what I was shooting for in the beginning. I wanted to find something to win first place."
Blake says he enjoys being in the FFA because of the competition at the State Fair level.
