The check is in the mail if you're an area tobacco farmer.

The North Carolina supreme court overturned an earlier ruling Friday that released tobacco companies from making $424 million in Phase II buyout payments.

Now the money is on its way to 14 states including Kentucky and Tennessee.

Kentucky farmers already have their money because the General Assembly and Governor Fletcher funded their buyouts from the state budget earlier this year.

But Tennessee farmers didn't get any help and their bottom lines have been hurt.

"It's a win for the state of KY, a win for the farmers; the governor has already seen a need to pay them so they wouldn't be in financial hardship. And the other six states surrounding KY that didn't get their money, this is going to be a win for them," said Philip Morris agent Tommy Bale.
