Howard Dean, the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee says he disagrees with the Supreme Court's decision that Indiana voters must have proof of identification in order to cast a ballot.
Dean believes this ruling makes it more difficult for lower income and older citizens to vote because it is harder for these groups to buy legal IDs.
"The court acknowledged that there was no evidence of fraud in Indiana voting," said Dean.
"And the court acknowledged that this decision would be a hardship for elderly and low income people. They then made a political decision. They upheld the right of the republican party to restrict the rights of people to vote. I think that was a terrible mistake and frankly it was an affront to American democracy.
The law, which was upheld by the Supreme Court on April 28, is designed to prevent voter fraud.
