Kentucky coroners are returning home from New Orleans and say they saw things they'll never forget, but wish they could.
Mccracken County Deputy Coroner Jerry Beyer says they recovered bodies from streets, sidewalks, fences, trees, nursing homes, hospitals and private homes.
It was the Kentuckians who recovered the 45 bodies found at Memorial Medical Center.
Beyer described the grisly scene as a challenge physically, because they had to remove bodies along various flights of stairs and from difficult-to-negotiate sections of the hospital.
Beyer says the coroners believe some of the people in nursing homes were left to fend for themselves.
