Chris Calvert returned to Richardsville Elementary Tuesday morning, where he was greeted by hundreds of children and teachers who are relieved he's finally home.
Mr. Calvert's mission in Iraq lasted 14 months. He says being away from his students and family was the hardest part. "It's extremely hard. It makes you appreciate what all you have when you're away."
Calvert looked taken aback by the large crowd, the flags, and welcome home signs that decorated the gymnasium.
Calvert says he plans to spend the next few days getting his room in order, so students can head back to his classroom next week.
