You may remember us telling you about Allan Peerce a few weeks ago.

He was the man who protested $4.00 diesel prices in Leitchfield on horseback.

Today, Allan is back in the saddle and he's taking his protest to a whole new level.

"I made the statement that if the diesel prices got to $4.20, I'd be camping out on the courthouse square," Allan says.

He's a man of his word.

"Saturday morning, they were $4.29. So, here I am."

He's been seen out and about protesting by horseback before, but he didn't think it'd come to this.

"I didn't think it was going to hit $4.20 or $4.25," Allan explains.

"I was very surprised to see the diesel prices had hit $4.29."

Allan says these have been particularly trying times on small business owners.

Allan owns a sign making company himself.

"I'm losing money every day, every minute that I'm here," says Allan.

"I feel this is more important."

Sleeping under the stars is no sweat.

"I was raised in a house with only four rooms with ten children," he laughs.

"Sleeping on the floor, sleeping on the ground is nothing new to me."

Allan's stallion, Hitman, is along for every hour of this overnight protest just as long as Allan's keeping up his end of the bargain and supplying plenty of water and hay.

"Hitman will do whatever I ask him to do. He's a good horse. He's spunky today, he's fired up. He's ready to go."

Allan says there was a time he wasn't sure his efforts could do any good.

With growing support from the community, those days have past.

"I think we need to get the message out there that we're tired of the greedy oil prices, and we just need to make a statement. All of us do," Allan concludes.

Allan says he doesn't know how many nights he'll be camping on the town square just yet.

He does say that he's brainstorming ideas for a new protest in the event diesel prices hit $4.50.
