You may remember us telling you about Allan Peerce a few weeks ago.

He was the man who protested $4.00 diesel prices in Leitchfield on horseback.

Today, Allan is back in the saddle and he's taking his protest to a whole new level.

"I made the statement that if the diesel prices got to $4.20, I'd be camping out on the courthouse square," Allan says.

He's a man of his word.

"Saturday morning, they were $4.29. So, here I am."

He's been seen out and about protesting by horseback before, but he didn't think it'd come to this.

"I didn't think it was going to hit $4.20 or $4.25," Allan explains.

"I was very surprised to see the diesel prices had hit $4.29."

Allan says these have been particularly trying times on small business owners.

Allan owns a sign making company himself.

"I'm losing money every day, every minute that I'm here," says Allan.

"I feel this is more important."

Sleeping under the stars is no sweat.

"I was raised in a house with only four rooms with ten children," he laughs.

"Sleeping on the floor, sleeping on the ground is nothing new to me."

Allan's stallion, Hitman, is along for every hour of this overnight protest just as long as Allan's keeping up his end of the bargain and supplying plenty of water and hay.

"Hitman will do whatever I ask him to do. He's a good horse. He's spunky today, he's fired up. He's ready to go."

Allan says there was a time he wasn't sure his efforts could do any good.

With growing support from the community, those days have past.

"I think we need to get the message out there that we're tired of the greedy oil prices, and we just need to make a statement. All of us do," Allan concludes.

Allan says he doesn't know how many nights he'll be camping on the town square just yet.

He does say that he's brainstorming ideas for a new protest in the event diesel prices hit $4.50.

Way to go. We need more people out there showing that America will not just take everything that is given to us. We need more out there protesting and drawing attention to what is wrong with the economy. It's fine to figure out alternatives, but more people need to do the same thing. What better way to draw their attention than through something like this? This may not bring gas prices down, but it opens eyes and brings attention to alternatives. Mr. Pearce, I am fully behind you.

I for one am glad he's protesting for all the good it will do. If I had a horse I'd be right by his side on this. This is the United States. We are not under dictatorship, or are we? It's not just fuel. Food is outragous. I'm not blaming Bush. I am blaming everyone who has a say, and is doing absolutely nothing to help the American people. I'm fed up when they remove the ten commandments, take in God we trust from the American coin, forbid a nativity sceen, and now raise the cost of living to where one can barely raise his or her family. Stimulous Package, why? Lower prices and we will not need that "economy builder". When the American government points their finger at countries who starve their people they might need to look at the three pointing back at them. And I'm not being dramatic when saying starve, After paying one's bills, there's not much left for food no matter how well one manages their finances.

I SAY WAY TO GO MR. PEERCE! IF MORE PEOPLE HAD THE GUTS TO DO STUFF LIKE THIS, WE MIGHT SEE SOME LOWER FUEL PRICES. OH, AND MR. OR MRS. "ENOUGH ALREADY" - YOU SOUND LIKE THE UNEDUCATED ONE!

This man is being a public nuisance in the name of some cause, making himself look like a hayseed and creating a mess with the horse's "exhaust". Anyone else camping out of the courthouse lawn would be removed for trespass or other. This has zero effect on fuel pricing and just makes the area people allowing it and backing him up look backwards and uneducated. Mr Peerce get back to your business and look into alternatives of this century. We already have enough road hazards with the Amish wagons.

I actually feel really good about what Allen is doing because I actually stood out there on the square and felt great with all the honks and waves and thumbs up in support for what a small town man was doing and how it was making such an impact
