Police in India say 60 people have been killed and another 150 wounded in a series of bombings in an ancient city popular with tourists.

A state police official says the seven explosions in markets and other areas of Jaipur were "a terrorist plot" designed "to cause the maximum damage to human life."

Police say one of the blasts hit a market near a temple packed with people offering prayers to a Hindu monkey god.

Its not known how many, if any, foreign tourists were caught in the blasts.
