Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue declares a state of emergency for 13 counties after a string of tornadoes over the weekend.

An estimated 6,000 homes across the state were damaged, and estimates now stand at $50-million.

Residents of St. Simons Island in south Georgia are sorting through the damage left behind from the tornadoes.

The Glynn County Emergency Management Agency says trained storm spotters saw three twisters.
