Two Democrat nominees, Reid Haire and David Boswell, are making their rounds this week and preparing for the 2nd Congressional District race.

The two men are both from Daviess County, but have two very different messages that they are currently pushing.

One is pushing for a change in Congress, while the other says his experience is what voters should trust.

"If there was one thing I want the voters to know, is that I have a proven track record of getting things accomplished," said Haire.

Reid Haire has been the Daviess County Judge-Executive since 1998.

He says this position has allowed him to recognize the needs of the citizens and encouraged him to run for the 2nd Congressional District to address the issues in Washington.

"I think that's what people want. They want somebody in Congress who has experience with getting things accomplished, because there's so many needs in the health care arena, with the economy, with energy prices, in the field of education and even national defense," stated Haire.

He believes many voters are ready for a change, and he's hoping to be just what they are looking for.

"I believe that people want to see a message sent to Washington that they are tired of business as usual," he said.

"I think that my service obviously to the state as Commissioner of Agriculture, the nearly 26 years I've served in legislature, both the House and Senate, has given me the opportunity to experience how government works, how government operates," says David Boswell.

David Boswell says traveling the area he's heard many voters worried about a number of issues.

"The issues are all basically the same all over the district. People are concerned about health care, about the affordability of health care, they're concerned about the war in Iraq, the drain its causing on our economy," exclaimed Boswell.

Boswell says he's hoping voters will consider his experience and message of putting "America First," to help with these issues.

"Let's put Americans first, then at the end of the day when our economy is good, we'll help take care of everyone else," stated Boswell.

The winner between David Boswell and Reid Haire will face off against Republican Brett Guthrie in the general election in November.
