WKU's Diddle Arena was filled with the sound of music on May 15 for the Annual String Finale Concert!

More than 350 students from Bowling Green city schools and Warren County schools performed a variety of music from Bach to Green Day!

The concert was a culmination of many hours of practice throughout the school year.

And it paid off!

"We practiced a lot and really hard," stated Dylan Edwards, a member of the orchestra.

"We worked really hard...about twice a week...30-45-minutes," said Malcolm Offutt, another member.

Students displayed their orchestra skills on violin, cello and double bass.

And just when the concert was to end--the orchestra and crowd were treated to a special guest conductor Big Red!

This is the third year the concert has been held at Diddle Arena.

My son, Ben, was in the concert playing the viola. He got a real kick out of Big Red - nice touch! Next year, they should really tone down the keyboard -- it was covering up most of the strings!! It is great to see a program that started with only 21 students build this kind of interest in our youth. Bravissimo!!

Thanks for interviewing my son, Dylan, he was SO proud that he made the news. Thanks for making the end of his last year at McNeil GREAT.
