Compact fluorescent light bulbs have been touted as a money-saving, eco-friendly alternative to traditional bulbs.

Now a potential danger has been found.

The Environmental Protection Agency says if the bulb is broken, it releases a powder that contains mercury.

Officials recommend you open windows to ventilate the area, then scoop up the mercury using paper or cardboard.

You're advised to dispose of the debris in a glass jar or plastic bags.

Well, considering that a normal thermometer has about 100 times the amount of mercury than a CFL has, or most home thermostats have about 1000 times the mercury, I'm not too worried. If you are worried, just be careful and don't drop the things.
