More than 400 children, taken from that polygamist ranch in Texas, may soon be going back.

The Texas Supreme Court has just ruled that officials who took the children overstepped their bounds.

The court let stand an appeals court ruling which said the state had no right to remove the children from the ranch last month.

The case involves 126 children from the Fundamental Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a Mormon offshoot that practices polygamy.

An FLDS member reacted to the ruling outside the courthouse in San Angelo.

"There has been a catastrophic, physical and emotional trauma to these families, permanent damage that will be left on them for a lifetime. Two wrongs do not make a right and this court has an ability to load these children up and return them to the families and I can assure you we can figure out who mothers and fathers are," said the FLDS member.

Although the 3rd District ruling applied only to 126 children, attorneys have said the reasoning could apply to all the 400-plus children removed from the ranch.
