Warren County Attorney, Amy Milliken, has made going after child support her passion. To illustrate this, she has hired the county's first full-time prosecutor for child support, Claire Injeian. They provide free services to custodial parents seeking child support.
Milliken has successfully used the threat of jail time before. In the case we profiled yesterday, when faced with going to jail, the deadbeat dad paid a substantial lump sum of what he owed. And Milliken says if he doesn't pay up this time, she'll proceed with criminal charges again.
The mother in that case says if she had one think to say to readers, it's to not give up! She says if custodial parents aren't going to fight for the welfare of their children, who is? And other custodial parents want to make sure you know child support money goes to the children, in the form of goods or services, and not to anything for the parents.
Beginning tonight, we will publicize Deadbeat Parents every Friday throughout the month of November. We start with a mother who owes $14,013.06 in child support. April Leigh Burke, 34, hasn't paid any child support since November 14, 2001. Her last known address was 107 Riverview Drive in Bowling Green. If you know where April Leigh Burke is now, please call the Child Support Division of the Warren County Attorney's office at 270-781-3654.
