Wednesday, a groundbreaking will mark the first chapter of minor league baseball in Bowling Green.

The Single-A "Columbus Catfish" organization will be relocating right here to South Central Kentucky to begin play in the spring of 2009.

We caught up with the team's owner, Art Solomon, to find out what Bowling Green can expect from its newest sports team.

"We're incredibly excited," exclaims Solomon.

He's ready to bring his Columbus franchise here to Bowling Green.

"I think people know the Columbus team won the South Atlantic League last year. We certainly hope to bring a winner here," says Solomon.

The team will play a 70-game home schedule at its new stadium that is expected to house 5,700 people.

Even though the club is on its way into town, it doesn't have a name yet.

That's where the community comes in.

All you have to do is go to the team's website, and help pick a name.

"One phase, we want really creative ideas for people in the community and then we'll take the best 3 or 4 ideas and we'll have them vote and that's what'll determine the name of the team," says Solomon.

If you just can't wait to get your seats, season tickets are already available.

Single game ticket prices will range from $5 to $12.

"We will say "Play Ball" officially in April of 2009," says Solomon.

A general manager for the team is currently being selected.

The stadium that's going to be built will have suites, a private club, and picnic areas.

Outside of the baseball diamond, the team plans to be very active in the community through partnerships with local non-profit agencies, schools, and businesses.
