According to the United States Humane Society they take in thousands of abused or neglected animals every year. This weekend some area animal activists met hoping to help animals that have been abused.

The group is working on legislation that will make animal abuse a felony instead of a misdemeanor. The group has been working on the legislation for 5 years now.
