BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) -- Some Bowling Green residents are trying to convince the city that it should consider opening a whitewater rafting park on the Barren River.
They say the city and the U-S Army Corps of Engineers could help foot the bill for the park -- which would cost around four (m) million dollars.
The Corps says it will match what the city finances.
The idea was pitched Tuesday by Western Kentucky University professor Steve Spencer and city greenways coordinator Helen Siewers.
They pointed to other cities with whitewater parks like Golden, Colorado and Reno.
They say a similar park in Vail, Colorado, brings in a (m) million dollars to the city during an annual four-day competition.
