"In The System"- Part 3

When children are left in the foster care system for over a year, a termination of parental rights can sometimes occur, and the foster children either remain in foster care, or are eventually adopted.

Melinda and Matt Logic have taken in foster children before. Hannah and Garrick were the first of these children that they have adopted.

"Obviously we think they're special. They've come a long way from when they first came into house", says Matt Logic.

A long way that Melinda can relate to. She was also in the foster care system as a child, and knows that this is something that Hannah and Garrick will be able turn to her to talk about.

"I think it will help when they get older and being able to describe to them about the experience, because different children respond in different ways when they find out", says Melinda.

"They're special children to us and we're happy. This is definitely a win-win situation. We hope that it is for them because we know it is for us", says Matt.

There are currently over 6,500 children in the foster care system in Kentucky, and over 550 of those children are in our area.
