The Kentucky Senate passes legislation that would help military families pay their bills.
The measure received bi-partisan support and was put on a fast track by the Senate where it passed 37-to-zero.
The legislation would help regular members of the armed forces as well as members of the National Guard and Reserve who list Kentucky as their home.
Money from the fund would help military families pay for housing, utilities, groceries, health insurance and child care.
Another part of the bill declares that the state would pay an $80,000 death benefit to the family of any Kentucky Guardsman or reservist killed while on federal active duty.
