The son of a state lawmaker is facing a murder charge in the death of a Murray State University Graduate student. 20-year-old Harrison Yonts of Muhlenberg County was also indicted by a Calloway County Grand Jury on charges of tampering with physical evidence...driving under the influence...and leaving the scene of the accident.
Originally...Yonts was charged with second degree manslaughter in the death of 63-year-old Nadia Shaheen. The graduate student was struck and killed by a car in November. Murray State Police say they used evidence from the crime scene and linked it to Yont's vehicle.
Yonts is the son of State Representative Brent Yonts of Greenville. His arraignment is scheduled for February 13th.
