Campers at 32 state parks around Kentucky will for the first time be able to reserve campsites.
State park officials say the old, first-come, first-serve system had discouraged many visitors.
Starting February 9, campers will be able to reserve a site up to a year in advance with a credit card by phone. Reservations can be made on the state parks Web site starting February 15.
Park officials say the new system will boost usage, especially at sites that have been underused.
Campers can make reservations at 1-888-4KYPARK or on www.parks.ky.gov.
