A Burkesville dentist is sentenced in federal court for illegally distributing painkillers without any medical purpose.

On June 30 Mary Todd Stephenson was sentenced to six months in prison and fined $20,000.

She will also have two years of supervised release and must forfeit her interest in the dental building in which she practiced.

This past December, Stephenson was found guilty of prescribing thousands of hydrocodone and percocet pills for no medical reason.
