New rules adopted by the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration will require coal mine operators to act more quickly in case of an accident.

Under the rules, operators must call MHSA officials within 15 minutes of an accident.

The new rules are asking companies to store extra oxygen packs in a readily accessible area in case of an accident.
