BOWLING GREEN, Ky (WBKO) --Some local pets and families will have more cheerful winter thanks to some Corvette lovers.
The Bowling Green Assembly Corvette Club raised more than $20,000 for its annual Vets, Pets and Families fundraiser. Half of the funds will go to helping homeless pets, and the other half will feed those less fortunate in the community.
"The money that we raise we split. We take 50 percent of that money to the Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society, and then we have a deal with Kroger where we buy.... they give us a really good deal, and we buy food for the Salvation Army food bank," said Bowling Green Assembly Corvette Club President Dave Chrisley.
"The way they do their fundraiser, they actually raise the money and then ask us exactly what we need, so that makes the food go alot further," said Salvation Army Major Ed Binnix.
Major Binnix says the more than $10,000 worth of food they took to their pantry today will probably last until the end of March.
