Governor Ernie Fletcher is out of surgery after doctors removed his gall bladder.
The surgery lasted about an hour at Saint Joseph's East Hospital in Lexington. It was the second surgery in two days for the governor, who had a gall stone removed yesterday.
Fletcher's surgeon, Doctor Joseph Fine, says the governor's gall bladder was sicker than originally thought. Fine says he's glad it was removed. Doctors made four incisions in Fletcher's abdomen during the surgery.
The governor will be staying at the hospital at least overnight and it could be next week before he is back to work.
Lieutenant Governor Steve Pence has temporarily assumed the responsibilities of governor.
