A man wanted for multiple sexual abuse charges and who police say posed as a marine and police officer has been captured.

The FBI arrested 42-year-old David Peter Wheatley on warrants for two counts of sodomy, one count of attempted rape and escape.

Elizabethtown police spokesman Virgil Willoughby said the FBI received a tip that Wheatlye was st aying at a motel in Elizabethtown on Thursday.

Elizabethtown police arrested Wheatley without incident at about 8:15 p.m. EDT.

In July 2002, he was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

In December 2003, he escaped from the Jefferson County Corrections Department and had been at large since. He was charged in 2006 with raping a female relative on various occasions from 1999 -- when the girl was 7 years old -- to 2002.
